I. General
WYT series liquid resistance speed governor is a late-model, high performance speed governor designed for fans (matched with winding synchronous motor) in cement and other industries on the principle that the max torque of the motor has no relationship with the rotor resistance and the slip ratio is in direct ratio to the rotor resistance. It connects in series the liquid resistance with large heat capacity in the rotor loop of the motor and changes the slip ratio of the motor by adjusting the resistance to fulfill endless speed governor. In addition, it has the functions of the starter. WYT has a high performance and price ratio, which is applicable to the cement enterprises in our country. Besides, it is applicable to the speed governor of fans and pumps in metallurgy, electric power, water supply and agriculture watering and other industries.

IX.Installation and debugging
WYT series product will be installed and debugged under the on site guidance by our technician. Before our technician arrives, the following work shall be done by the user:
a. Get the device ready: the user shall place the liquid resistance cabinet and the cooling cabinet of the speed governor near the primary cabinet of the motor and the liquid resistance cabinet. The cooling cabinet shall be in one line closely enough and the cooling cabinet shall be placed on the right of the liquid resistance cabinet; the remote control cabinet can be placed in a proper site. The feet of each cabinet shall be fixed.
b. Install the water supply: Install the water supply near the cooling cabinet and add a tap to the nearest. Make some frost protection.
c. Get the cables ready: measure the length between the motor rotor and the liquid cabinet of the speed governor. Press the joints.
d. Place the three-phase four-wire AC380V power supply wires to the liquid resistance cabinet and the section of the wire shall not smaller than 1.5mm2 (copper cord).
e. The liquid resistance cabinet shall ground reliably and the grounding resistance shall smaller than 4Ω. Zero line is prohibited.
f. If remote control is needed, the linking cables from the control site to the liquid resistance cabinet shall be placed in advance. For specific cable specification and quantity, please consult the technical section of our company.
X.. Operation procedure
a. Start the host
? Open the inlet valve of the cooling water.
? Power on the host and the speed governor (380V operating voltage). Switch on the primary isolating switch of the main motor and the air switch (QF20) inside the liquid resistance cabinet.
? Turn the status switching switch on the governor cabinet to start status ("start status" light will be on) and the governor will automatically start reset. After reset, "start allowable" light on the governor will be on. (Note: when the status switching switch is in speed governing status, the governor can't reset and the host can't start).
? Press "pump start" button to start the cooling water pump and the "pump operation" light will be on. (Note: the host can't start if the pump doesn't start).
? According to the requirement from the user that the motor rotational speed after starting , set the control time of the time relay on the governor to select if full speed or not. The time will be set after the agreement between our technician and the user's technician, which shall be better not be changed. (Pay attention to: after starting, the rotational speed of the motor shall not lower than a half of the rated value).
? Press the "start' button on the motor primary cabinet and the motor will start with starting time displayed on the time relay. After finish starting, the time relay will stop timing with power supply automatically being cut off and the motor will be in operation status.
b. Speed governing
Turn the status switching switch to speed governing status ("governing status" light will be on and the "start status" light will be off) and the governor will enter governing status. Press the "self-control" button on the liquid resistance cabinet with "self-control" light on and all the governing operations can be done via the liquid resistance cabinet.
Speeding-up: When the rotational speed of the motor needs to be increased because of undersize speed, speeding-up operation shall be done:
? Set the value on the tachometer to the value needed.
? Press the "speeding up" button with "speeding up" indicating light on and the motor will speed up until the setting value is reached. After that, "speeding up" indicating light will be off and the motor will operate at the speed after set.
Slowing down: When the rotational speed of the motor needs to be reduced because of over-speed, slowing down operation shall be done:
? Set the value on the tachometer to the value needed.
? Press the "slowing down" button with "slowing down" indicating light on and the motor will slow down until the setting value is reached. After that, "slowing down" indicating light will be off and the motor will operate at the speed after set.
Pause: When the governor is speeding up or slowing down automatically, press "pause" button to stop that operation.
Force speed governing: If fast governing is needed, put the governor to "force governing" status and make speed governing manually. Force governing can't be limited by the upper limiting value on the tachometer.
? Press "force governing" button and this indicating light will be on.
? Speeding up. Press "speeding up" button with "speeding up" indicating light on, and the motor will speed up. Release the button and the speeding up will stop with light off. It is invalid to press "speeding up" button when the motor is operating at full speed.
? Slowing down. This method is similar to that of the speeding up. It is invalid to press "slowing down" when the motor is operating at the lower limiting speed (limited by the setting value).
? Press "pause" button. "Force governing" light will be off and the governor will exit force governing state.
Suggestion: each motor in the governor has a self-adoptive process, and it is better to press the speed governing buttons at intervals.
c. Remote governing
The remote governing method of the remote control cabinet is similar to that of the liquid resistance cabinet. But before governing, it is necessary to press "self control" button on the cabinet. After "self control" light is on, governing operation can be done by the remote control cabinet. Governing operation of the liquid resistance cabinet is invalid at this time.
d. Stop
? Press "stop" button on the primary cabinet of the motor and the motor will stop operating.
? Open the isolating switch of the primary cabinet.
? Press "pump stop" button and the "pump operation" light will be off.
? Close the inlet valve of the cooling water.
? In the downtime, open the air switch (QF20) inside the governor.
XI. Precautions
? Operate strictly as the operation procedure in this manual.
? Prohibit turning the status switch to governing state before the motor finishes starting (the time relay stops timing).
? Only PLC resets reliably can the program operate normally. Prohibit powering on/off frequently. Repower on in at lest 30 seconds.
? To guarantee the safe operation of the motor and the governor, no frequent speeding up or slowing down.
? PLC in the governor will be easy to be burned out if it is wired wrongly. Thus, the inspection work must be done by the technician. Before inspect, read this manual carefully and understand the attached diagrams.
? When cooling circulating system troubles, the governing operation is prohibited.
? The main primary loop of the motor will automatically trip when there are excess temperature of the electrolyte, pump trouble or power-failure of the liquid resistance cabinet. Do not put into use until the fault reason is solved.
? To keep the electrolyte clean, please do not open the cover of the tank.
? Refresh the electrolyte (under the guidance of our technician) when the performance of the governing is poor.
? If power on for the first time (starting state) when the phase frequency of the power supply varies because of inspection or other reasons, do pay attention to the moving direction of the electrodes. If the electrodes keep moving down when the servo-actuator of the governor rotates, the phase frequency of the power supply is wrong and the wiring terminals of the power lines shall be exchanged.
XII Basic maintenance
? Always check the circulating system of the governor for the prevention of leak. Check if the water level of the tank is too low half a year. If so, add some clean distilled water to lat the water level in a proper position.
? Check if the servo-actuator redactor of the governor is lack of oil annually: watch if there is oil at the bottom of the oil filling pipe of the governor. If not, add some oil until there is oil at the bottom. But don't add too much.
i Trouble handling
? When the governor troubles, the technician does the inspection work according to the diagrams supplied by this manual. Do not short circuit or remove the elements of the governor.
? If PLC troubles or there are some faults hard to solve, please contact our technical section and we will supply your with technology guidance.
